1. Proteins:

Do you know what your hair is made of? Yes, It is protein. That gives you an idea, how much protein is important for our hair. Ensure that your diet should have sufficient amount of protein for making your hair strong, healthy and awesome.

Inadequate amount of protein in the diet can cause hair loss and can leave hair rough and dry.

2. Carbohydrates:

Carbohydrates are also as essential as carbohydrates are used to convert protein into cells that form your hair. You can’t imagine healthy life and healthy hair without carbohydrates. no carbohydrates, no hair.

Carbohydrates are important because they provide energy and as the hair cells are the second fastest growing cell in your body, they need a lot of energy, which comes from carbohydrates.
Diet/Food rich in carbohydrates: Whole grain cereal, Wheat, Baked Beans, Peas, Potatoes (with the skin), Barley, Oatmeal, Brown rice or Pasta, Fresh fruit (i.e. apples, pears and bananas)

 

3. Omega 3-Fatty Acid:

You are probably aware that Omega 3 Fatty acid helps in treating hair loss and help in hair growth. Yes, you have the right information. By adding these fatty acids in your diet, you can take care of hair loss and encourage growth of healthy hair.

Fatty Acids are called 'essential' because they are the key in proper functioning of the body, although our bodies are unable to actually manufacture them. Since the body is unable to synthesize omega-3s, we have to obtain these essential nutrients through our diet. Good amount of omega-3 in your diet prevents dry, itchy, flaky scalp and is beneficial in reversing hair loss.

4. Vitamins:

a. Vitamin A: It produces the sebum which is a natural hair conditioner without which our skin will be dry and itchy. It is useful and essential for hair growth and healthy hair. Vitamin A is available in Dark Green Vegetables, Fruits, Sweet potatoes, carrots, pumpkins, dark orange fruit, peaches. All these are Beta-carotene.

b. Vitamin B: Vitamin B food is rich in Biotin. It is for faster hair growth and prevents hair loss. It is found in egg, fish, chicken, wholegrain.

c. Vitamin C: Vitamin C is ascorbic acid and is necessary for good circulation and hair growth. It is also a cure for split ends of hair. It is found in citrus food such as lemons, tomatoes, Red pepper, potatoes, blueberries, broccoli, guava, kiwi fruits, oranges, papaya, and strawberries.

d. Vitamin E: Like your sin, your hair are also sun, heat and weather condition sensitive. Sun can easily damage your hair. Vitamin E is a natural sun protector and helps to protect hair cells from damage. It repairs and builds the tissue which is essential for healthy hair growth. Iron rich diets are Chicken, Red Meat, green vegetables, whole grains, and seeds.

b. Potassium: In today's life there are many reasons for hair fall and deficiency of potassium is one of them. Usually, people are unaware of it. There is medical situation due to lack of potassium known as hypokalemia culprit of hair fall. Fruits like apricot, apples, banana, almond, veggies like potato, carrot, yams, lima beans, brown rice and bran are potassium-rich diets, include them in your daily diet and get rid of hair fall.

Massage gently your hair and scalp with warm olive oil and keep it overnight and wash in the next morning and you will see the great result.

2. Massage with Coconut Oil:

Coconut is in use for skin care, culinary and hair care for centuries. It has a lot of benefits from cooking to moisturizing skin and hair. It makes food tasty and makes your hair healthy. Coconut helps to stimulate growth of your hair, remove split ends and is a great moisturizer.
Procedure:
Massage gently your hair and scalp with pure coconut oil and keep it overnight. You can also wash hair even after 1-2 hours so that oil get absorbed in the scalp. Longer you leave the oil on hair, the more effective result you will get.

3. Egg Wash:

Egg is a great solution for many hair problems as white portion of the egg itself is protein. It is easily available and inexpensive item. Eggs make the hair strong, shiny and soft. It is really a great method to make your hair shiny before joining a party.
Procedure:
a. Break an egg or two in a bowl and remove the yellow portion.
b. Mix a tablespoon of olive oil and blend it properly.
c. You can also add a tablespoon of Honey for excellent results.
d. Apply it to your scalp first and complete hair thoroughly and keep it for 15- 20 minutes.
e. Wash it with shampoo and cold water as hot water can leads to lumps and bad smell.

4. Onion plus Honey Treatment:

a. Take 2 onions and peel them off.
b. Cut and blend it and collect the juice in a jar.
c. Mix one teaspoon of honey in it.

Avocado is a great moisturizer and it treats hair in a healthy and natural way. It leaves the hair shiny. Avocado is rich in vitamins (A,B,D,E), minerals (Biotin, Copper, Iron) and fatty acids. Procedure:
A. Avocado and Banana Hair Mask for Dull Hair
a. Remove the avocado pulp and peel off the banana.
b. Blend the avocado and banana in a blender to make a smooth paste.
c. Put half teaspoonful of olive oil and mix it well.
d. Apply it on the scalp and hair and keep the mask for 20 min.
e. Rinse it off with water and mild shampoo and you well get the shiny smooth hair.

B. Avocado and Egg Mask for Conditioning Hair
a. Remove the avocado pulp and blend it in a blender.
b. Mix the blended avocado with egg white to make a smooth mixture.
c. Apply it on the scalp and hair and keep it for 20-30 minutes.
d. You can add lemon in it to get more effective result
e. Rinse it off with cold water and mild shampoo.

C. Avocado and Honey mask for Dry hair
a. Remove the avocado pulp and blend it in the blender.
b. Mix one teaspoon of Honey and olive oil in it.
c. Make a smooth paste and apply it properly on hair and scalp.
d. Keep it for 20-30 minutes or until the mask gets dry.
e. Wash it with warm water and mild shampoo.

6. Curd/Yogurt Mask:

Are you tired of dandruff?? Then this is the best solution for fighting dandruff. Yogurt is rich in Vitamin B5 and protein which are great for your hair. Yogurt moisturise your hair and keeps dandruff away. It has antibacterial agents which solve the problem of itching and irritation on the scalp. It is also a good conditioner.
Procedure:
a. Take 4 teaspoons of curd.
b. Mix it with one teaspoon of honey and few drops of lemon juice.
c. Mix the ingredients well in a bowl.
d. Apply the mixture well on hair and scalp and you can give a five minutes massage.
e. Let the mask dry for 20-30 minutes.
f. Rinse it with warm water.
You can see the dandruff will almost be gone and now what you will have is silky and smooth hair. You can repeat this for 2-3 times per week to get the excellent results.

7. Henna Pack/ Henna Mehndi:

Old is Gold!!!. This has always been a favorite of our Grandmas and Mothers. It is really a good conditioner for hair. Henna helps the scalp health with its cooling and antimicrobial properties. Most noteworthy quality of Henna is, It also repairs the damaged hair and strengthens them.

Procedure:
a. Soak the pack of henna for whole night in a bowl.
b. For better results, you can soak henna in green tea or black tea for whole night.
c. Add few drops of lemon in the mixture.
d. Apply it properly on hair and scalp.
e. Let it dry for 1-2 hours.
f. Rinse it with cold water and let your hair dry naturally.
You will see the conditioned and shiny hair as this method is tried and tested. You can also add other ingredients like egg, olive oil, mustard oil to the variation for better results.

8. Reetha/Soapnut Wash:

If your skin is very sensitive and cannot tolerate the chemicals in hard shampoos, here is the solution: Soapnuts. It is a 100% natural product, also known as Reetha, soapberries or washing nuts. It has been used to make natural hair care products for ages. Soapnut is rich in saponin, and vitamins (A,D,E and K)which make your hair healthy and shiny.

Procedure:
1. Remove the shell of reetha and soak 7-10 reetha units in half to one-liter water and leave it overnight.
2. In morning, crush the reetha in the same water and use that water to wash your hair.
Little bit of it remains in your hair, it will just fall off when your hair become dry, so, not a major concern. You can also make the powder by grinding the reetha seeds and then soak it overnight in water. You will see good results without any damage to your hair and scalp.

9. Lemon Massage:

Lemon, a citrus food really can help you to complete your dream of long and healthy hair. The acidic nature of lemon helps in tighten the hair roots and reduce the hair fall and control production of oil on head and scalp. It is also the best solution against dandruff.

Procedure:
a. Squeeze the juice of one to two lemons.
b. Massage for 5-10 minutes and leave it for 10 minutes more.
c. Repeat it once or twice a week.
Continuous and regular usage ensures strong hair.

10. Beer Spray:

I know, it’s odd, but do you know what happens if you wash your hair with bubbly beer?? Beer contains silica which helps to make your hair thick. Beer is full of minerals which are required by your hair. It also conditions your hair and provides you soft and silky hair.

Procedure:
1. Take one cup of beer and two cups of water, mix it well.
2. Shampoo your hair.
3. Now wash your hair with beer.
4. Do not wash again with water, let it dry naturally.
You can try this once in a week and you will get the shiny and conditioned hair.

Do’s and Dont’s for Natural Hair Care

It won’t help if we just change our diet and do not change the generic hair related actions. Below are few things which really affect the growth and health of hair, few things you should do and few that you should avoid.

Don’t:

  • Avoid high ponytails. Let your hair down as much as possible and avoid pulling hair tightly. If you constantly wear ponytails and buns you are applying a pressure to your scalp which increases the chances of damage to strands and leads to hair fall. Let your hair play by losing them towards down.
  • Don’t style or highlight your hair when they are wet because in wet condition hair are most delicate. The chances of wear and tear and split ends are high when you style them when they are wet.
  • Don’t use styling appliances excessively. The heat generated from the hair dryer, hot iron easily damage your hair and left them dry and rough.
  • Do not over wash your hair. If you wash your hair on daily basis, it will decrease the ratio of the natural oils from your hair. So wash your hair maximum of twice or thrice in a week.
  • Do not comb your hair vigorously. Be gentle with your hair.
  • Don’t expose your hair to the sun for long time as the sun can easily damage the hair and make them rough. Use hat, cap, scarf or umbrella to protect from sun.
  • Don’t use too many chemicals which result in the damaged and dry hair. Use natural shampoo and conditioner to make your hair healthy, strong and stylish.
  • Don’t rub your wet hair with the towel vigorously because in the wet condition the hair is most weak. So let them dry naturally and protect them from damage and split ends. You can gently rub hands to shed extra water in hair.
  • Do not use shampoo directly on your scalp. Better way is to mix some shampoo with water and then apply it to hair and scalp.
  • Do not comb your hair when they are wet because hair are in weak condition, it can cause hair fall.

Do’s (What to do for natural hair care):

  • Wrap your hair with the towel when they are wet. It provides the required moisture to your scalp.
  • Give steam to your hair on regular basis. Wet your towel with warm water and wrap your hair with it. It will hydrate your dry hair and will moisturize them.
  • Do regular oil massage (mustard oil, olive oil or coconut oil) to your hair and scalp. It nourishes your hair and provides the required moisture. It also increases the blood circulation and feeds your hair with the necessary minerals and vitamins.
  • Condition your hair after shampoo. Try to use natural ways or natural conditioner for conditioning.
  • Use lukewarm water to wash your hair. Do not use too cold and extremely hot water for hair wash.
  • Drink a lot of water and eat nutritional food. It will give a good texture to your hair and keep them healthy.
  • Do brush your hair each morning. It stimulates the blood pressure and removes the dust and dirt from scalp and hair.
  • Try to use wide-toothed comb (generally avoid combing on wet hair. However, if needed, use wide tooth comb instead of fine tooth) on wet hair and start combing your hair from the end and goes to root. It causes less friction and decreases the chances to high loss of hair.
  • Always wet your hair before swimming or wear a cap as chlorinated water of swimming pool can easily damage your hair and make them dry and rough.
